Job Posting: Dishwashing Lead
Location: Recovery Café San Jose
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 11:00 AM – 3:30 PM Hours: 20-25 hours per week
Pay Rate: $20 – $22.50 per hour
Position Overview:
Recovery Café San Jose is looking for a reliable and motivated Dishwashing Lead to oversee and maintain high standards of cleanliness in our kitchen and organization of our pantry areas. This role is crucial in supporting the daily operations of our Café, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all members, volunteers, and staff. The Dishwashing Lead will supervise member volunteers, train them on dishwashing best practices, and perform essential cleaning and organizational tasks to maintain kitchen standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision of Dishwashing Operations:
- Supervise and train member volunteers in dishwashing tasks, ensuring cleanliness and proper handling of dishes and kitchen tools.
- Oversee dishwashing processes daily from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM to maintain hygiene and efficiency.
Meal Service Support: Assist with meal service as needed, helping serve food to members from 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM.
Regular Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Follow a cleaning and maintenance schedule for the kitchen and pantry areas, including organizing and sanitizing kitchen appliances, cupboards, walk-in freezer and fridges, and reach-in fridges in the kitchen and coffee bar.
- Sweep and mop kitchen and food storage areas from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM daily.
Additional Duties:
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
- Report any equipment or maintenance issues to the kitchen manager or maintenance team for prompt resolution.
- Act as a point of contact for kitchen safety and cleanliness guidelines.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred, especially in dishwashing or janitorial roles.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage time effectively and work collaboratively with member volunteers.
- Certification: CA Food Handler’s permit required prior to the first day.
