Position Summary
The Development Manager will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s fundraising activities to expand Recovery Café’s community of support. The role will drive donor engagement, oversee the grant pipeline, and manage fundraising events and other outreach efforts. The manager will work closely with the Executive Director and Program Manager to develop a strategic and integrated approach to development, including grant management, major donor engagement, and corporate giving. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to further define this role, and will have enormous impact on the organization. We’re looking for someone brave and bold, who is willing and able to be very hands-on and proactive in expanding our program.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan to achieve revenue goals, focusing on individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors, major gift prospects, corporate sponsors, and foundation funders.
- Manage the research, writing, and submission of grant proposals, ensuring timely compliance with securing contracts and reporting.
- Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns, both online and in-peron, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and maximizing revenue opportunities.
Donor Relations & Stewardship:
- With the Executive Director, build a portfolio of key donors and prospects, developing personalized cultivation and stewardship strategies to foster long-term support.
- Develop and oversee donor recognition programs, ensuring timely acknowledgments and regular engagement.
- Plan and execute donor cultivation events, working collaboratively with staff and board members
Grants Management:
- Research and identify new grant opportunities, manage the grant calendar, and coordinate proposal development with program and finance staff.
- Ensure compliance with funder guidelines and reporting requirements, submitting accurate and timely reports.Database Management & Reporting:
- Manage donor database and donor appreciation, tracking donor engagement and analyzing giving trends.
- Prepare fundraising reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors, providing insights into donor activity and overall fundraising progress.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Development, Fundraising, Communications, Marketing, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5+ years of nonprofit development experience, with an emphasis on major gifts, corporate giving, and grants management.
- Demonstrated ability to execute a successful fundraising strategy, meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in grant writing and/or donor communications.
- Experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences is a plus.
- Familiarity with donor management software and proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google tools.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities, work collaboratively with team members, and manage projects to completion.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a nonprofit with a budget of $1 million or more.
- Familiarity with issues related to addiction, homelessness, and mental health recovery.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
Compensation + Benefits
